WELCOME

Welcome, Yunna to Gullah Roots Historical Foundation! We are thrilled to have you join a community dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich heritage of the Gullah Geechee culture. Together, we can explore the stories, traditions, and history that shape our unique identity. Thank you for being a part of this important journey!

GULLAH ROOTS HISTORICAL FOUNDATION

Daufuskie Island sits at the center of the Gullah Geechee Corridor, across Calibogue Sound and situated between Hilton Head Island, SC and Savannah, GA. It has deep and rich Gullah Roots that were allowed to survive and flourish when Union Soldiers abandoned the island after the Civil War. It is our hope to maintain collections of this history and culture, preserve our land, and pass this on to future generations;

because We Binya!!! (Been Here)
